Now, when we’re talking yuletide pairings a sparkling red wine can be more versatile that you think.
Try a Morris Rutherglen Sparkling Shiraz Durif with a roast leg of ham, or even to accompany Christmas pudding which isn’t too sweet!
If you’re tucking into turkey or other poultry come Christmas Day then add a Gevrey Chambertin from Joseph Drouhin, 100% Pinot Noir to the trimmings.
A particularly excellent pairing is a well-aged Château Suduiraut Sauternes with foie gras served on crusty bread.
Seafood and fish lovers should try a dry Riesling from Alsace such as a Clos Windsbuhl from Zind Humbrecht, a great winemaker and leading authority in biodynamic wines.
And not forgetting a selection for cheese. A Sancerre from Francois Cotat, 100% Sauvignon Blanc and a Saumur from Domaine Guiberteau, 100% Chenin, both pair beautifully with soft cheeses.
Cheers to you all and season’s greetings from the Vintec team!
